The Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) is taking credited for taking over the Microsoft Office® Blogs site that temporarily became the host of an article entitled “Hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army.” Microsoft® promptly removed the post, acknowledging the social engineering cyber attacks it has suffered from lately originated from a phishing lure that compromised a small number of Microsoft® employee social media and email accounts. Over the past two weeks, Microsoft® has experienced other hijacks, including takeovers of several of its Twitter® accounts and its official blog. Microsoft® reports no customer information has been compromised in any of these recent attacks.
