Virus Flame Destroys Itself

June 13, 2012  Malware News

Microsoft has recently released a warning about a spy program called Flame, sometimes refered to as Flamer. Through an undiscovered system error this virus is able to convince windows that it is a certified program. Supposedly it was used against Iran, and has lately spread to other areas. The virus is associated with Stuxnet developers and government departments. Experts agree that it is the most sophisticated virus today and gives new meaning to the term "cyber weapon." After the publication of evidence of the existence of this virus, three days ago, Symantec Company detected a new “suicidal” code of this virus which deletes itself from the infected computer and removes all traces of its existence from the infected machine. This is to be expected of a virus programmed by a government institution and used for espionage as a for profit individual (non political or governmental) attacker would leave their virus in the computer as long as possible to maximize profit.
