Critical bug in PowerPoint

April 07, 2009  Malware News

Older versions of PowerPoint, such as 2000, 2002 and 2003 for the Windows operating system, bear a critical bug that is currently abused by several groups. Attackers intentionally create a malicious file in PowerPoint in the PPT format. When this file is opened, it can run any code on your computer. This bug is commonly abused by trojans from the Dropper.MSPpoint.Agent family, whose increased activity has been encountered by our antispyware lab. Please be careful when working with these older versions of PowerPoint and use the fully active real-time protection of Spyware Terminator.
