Performing a Spyware Scan

Performing a spyware scan in Spyware Terminator is very easy and this section will address this simple process.

There are four different types of scans Spyware Terminator can perform.

·    Fast Spyware Scan - this will tell Spyware Terminator to scan only the most critical areas of your computer for threats.  The areas it scans include the system registry, system INI files, processes running in memory, browser cookies (Internet Explorer and Firefox only), browser addons (Internet Explorer only), Windows Startup and critical system folders.  This scan does not make use of the Clam AntiVirus component.
·    Full Spyware Scan - this will tell Spyware Terminator to scan all areas of your computer for threats.  This will scan all areas covered by the "Fast Spyware Scan" and it will scan each individual file and folder on your hard drive for threats.  Similar to the "Fast Spyware Scan", this scan will not make use of the Clam AntiVirus component.
·    Full Virus & Spyware Scan - this scan is similar in nature to the Full Spyware Scan but it makes full use of the Clam AntiVirus component while scanning. All threats found by the Clam AntiVirus component will be clearly marked in the scan results.
·    Custom Scan - Spyware Terminator has the ability to store custom scan profiles. We have provided a default profile which you can modify, or you can delete it if you wish.
